If you're anything like me you are always itching to get to October when Apple releases their new updates for iPhone. This year's lineup had a ton of new features (as usual) but one will be the most beneficial for creators and business owners alike. Use this iPhone recording tip to help you save time when recording content.

The camera update now has the ability to pause recordings when you're in the middle of taking a video. This is so helpful for a variety of reasons, but one main reason is that it will cut down on editing time by A LOT while saving you storage space on your phone.

If you're a creator or business owner who does "day in the life" videos or even shows a progression on your newest project or skill, this tool will help you save on editing and even on storage space.

Service Based Business Owners:

If you take videos of you performing your service, this could be helpful so you don't have to record the whole service. Start your video at the beginning of your service and come back to it every 5ish minutes or whenever you are about to do something that will totally change the look of the video (stylist about to finish the last curl, makeup artist applying eyeliner, photographer snapping photos at different intervals during a session). Now when you go back to edit your video into short snippets, you will be able to filter through less than half the footage that you would have had to before. You may still have transitions to cut out, but this will save you on having to filter through 45 minutes to an hour of footage.

Product Based Business Owners:

I would assume that a lot of product based business owners show a behind the scenes at some point. Whether you're embroidering a sweatshirt, pouring a candle, or throwing clay on a wheel, your customers want to hear from you. This feature will help with keeping your video content down and minimizing how much editing you have to do to show the start to finish product. The only thing this will NOT work for would be if you want to include a time lapse or if your products require hours to dry or cure, etc. To combat that, try showcasing only a PART of your process instead of start to finish in one video.

How to Use the Feature - iPhone Recording Tip

When you're in your camera app, scroll to video. Once you start recording your video, you will see a small pause button in the bottom left corner. Click that pause button when you are done with your first clip. When you are ready to record your next clip, make sure that you click the record button that is in the bottom left again and NOT the stop button that appears where the shutter button normally is.
